The star-studded screening of Haq, starring Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, was held in Mumbai on Wednesday evening ahead of its nationwide release on November 7. The event drew several well-known faces from the film industry, including directors Madhur Bhandarkar and Anees Bazmee, and actors Prateik Babbar, Meiyang Chang, and Simran Dhanwani.
Emraan Hashmi, who plays the central role in the film, arrived in a sharp black ensemble and posed for photographers before the screening. Prateik Babbar attended with his wife and actor Priya Banerjee, while Bhandarkar and Bazmee were seen interacting with guests. Yami Gautam, who portrays a pivotal role in the courtroom drama, was unable to attend due to prior commitments.
Directed by Subhash Kapoor, Haq delves into the complex themes of Muslim Personal Law, the Uniform Civil Code, and the historic Shah Bano case — subjects that have long sparked national debate. The film portrays the human and legal dimensions of faith, justice, and gender equality through an intense courtroom narrative.
Hashmi essays the role of Mohammad Ahmed Khan, Shah Bano’s husband, whose actions ignite a landmark legal and social controversy. According to the makers, Haq seeks to present these sensitive issues “with honesty and balance,” encouraging audiences to reflect on the interplay between religion, law, and personal freedom.
Produced by T-Series and Emmay Entertainment, the film blends legal drama with powerful performances and thought-provoking dialogue. With its topical theme and strong cast, Haq is expected to generate considerable discussion upon release this Friday.
