Drishyam 3 Producer Issues Legal Notice to Akshaye Khanna Over Sudden Exit

Producer Kumar Mangat Pathak has sent a legal notice to actor Akshaye Khanna, seeking compensation after the latter abruptly withdrew from Drishyam 3 just days before shooting commenced, citing the success of his recent hit Dhurandhar as a factor in changed behaviour.
Pathak, in interviews, accused Khanna of unprofessionalism, claiming the actor signed an agreement, accepted advance payment, and initially agreed to reprise his bald character from Drishyam 2—IG Tarun Ahlawat—only to later demand a wig for continuity reasons tied to praise for his haired look in Dhurandhar.
The producer alleged Khanna messaged his withdrawal on the eve of Dhurandhar's release without explanation and stopped responding to calls. "Success has gone to his head," Pathak said, adding that entourages influenced Khanna into believing the film succeeded solely due to him.
The fallout caused significant losses, including dismantling sets after shooting began on December 16. Pathak vowed never to work with Khanna again, recalling past support during lean periods post-Section 375.
Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlawat has stepped in, with Pathak praising him as a superior actor and professional. The character's details have been slightly adjusted.
Drishyam 3, directed by Abhishek Pathak and starring, continues filming for an October 2, 2026 release.
Khanna has not responded publicly to the allegations. The dispute highlights tensions over creative control and remuneration in Bollywood's high-stakes environment.
