Hrithik Roshan praises ‘Dhurandhar’ but distances himself from its politics; Akshay Kumar, Siddharth Anand, Madhur Bhandarkar also applaud the film

Actor Hrithik Roshan has lauded Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna-starrer Dhurandhar, while making it clear that he does not align with the film’s political views. Sharing his reaction on Wednesday after watching the film, Hrithik posted a note on Instagram, calling the storytelling “fantastic” and the filmmaking “immersive”.

Hrithik wrote that he admired how the narrative pulls viewers into its world, adding that, despite disagreeing with the political messaging, Dhurandhar offered him valuable lessons as a student of cinema. “I don’t agree with the political part of it… but I learned a lot from it and loved it. It’s an amazing film,” he said.

Akshay Kumar also weighed in, praising director Aditya Dhar’s approach. In a post on X, he said the film left him “blown away”, noting that hard-hitting stories are essential and that the audience’s response reflects its impact. Filmmaker Siddharth Anand echoed similar sentiments, while director Madhur Bhandarkar termed Dhurandhar a “blockbuster”, calling Akshaye Khanna’s performance a “masterclass” and applauding Ranveer Singh’s intensity on screen.

The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, has continued its strong run at the box office since its December 5 release. On its sixth day, Dhurandhar collected ₹29.2 crore, taking its domestic total to ₹188 crore. Industry estimates place its worldwide earnings in the ₹250–260 crore range, positioning it among the year’s top-performing films.

With prominent industry voices backing the film even amid debate over its political stance Dhurandhar appears set to maintain momentum as it enters its second week in theatres.
