While promoting her mythological horror film MAA, Kajol called Ramoji Film City “one of the most haunted places.” As controversy swirled, she later reassured fans that the sprawling Hyderabad studio is “magnificent and safe,”.
Actress Kajol faced criticism for calling Hyderabad’s Ramoji Film City “haunted.” Following the backlash, she issued a clarification regarding her statement.
On Monday, Kajol wrote on her official X account, “I want to clarify the statement I made during the promotion of my film Maa, in which I mentioned Ramoji Film City.”
Kajol said, “I have shot many projects at Ramoji Film City and have stayed there several times. It has always been a very professional place. I’ve seen many tourists enjoying their time there. It’s a wonderful destination and completely safe for children and families.”
What had Kajol originally said?
In an interview with Galatta India, when Kajol was asked whether she had ever felt any negative energy, she responded,
“You can call it negative energy or vibes, but sometimes when you go to certain places, you feel that something isn’t right. I’ve shot at places where I couldn’t sleep all night and just felt like leaving immediately. There are many such places.”
In the interview, Kajol had also said,
“A prime example is Ramoji Rao Studio, which is considered one of the most haunted places in the world. However, I’ve been lucky that I never experienced anything like that there.”
Some people on social media took objection to this statement, criticizing her for calling a well-known tourist and film destination “haunted.”
