Malayalam Actor Shane Nigam’s Film Faces Hurdles Over Beef Biryani Scenes

Malayalam actor Shane Nigam’s romantic movie Soul of Hall is facing uncertainty after the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) demanded 15 cuts and modifications. Among the contentious scenes cited by the CBFC is one allegedly showing the consumption of beef biryani, which has put the film’s release at risk. In response, the filmmakers have approached the Kerala High Court challenging the CBFC’s decision.

According to the film’s PRO, the CBFC has requested the removal of 15 scenes, including ‘Dhwaja Pranam’, ‘Sangam Kaval Und’, and the beef biryani sequence.

However, the makers maintain that the beef biryani scene is a misinterpretation and deny that such a scene exists in the film. They contend that the CBFC’s objections are based on assumptions rather than actual content. If the suggested edits are made, the film is likely to receive an ‘A’ certificate.

The CBFC conducted the first preview of the film on September 10 and subsequently sent it to the Revising Committee, reportedly without providing any written explanation.

Soul of Hall is directed by Veera and penned by Nishad K. Koya, with Shane Nigam starring alongside Sakshi Vaidya and Johny Antony in lead roles. The film was initially scheduled for release on September 12.
