Odia Singer Humane Sagar Dies at 34; Odisha CM Pays Tribute

Popular Odia singer Humane Sagar passed away at the age of 34 due to multiple organ failure, authorities confirmed on Sunday. The singer, widely celebrated for his contributions to Odia music, had been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on November 14 after his health deteriorated sharply.

Medical reports revealed that Sagar was suffering from acute on chronic liver failure (ACLF), dilated cardiomyopathy, and bilateral pneumonia. Despite intensive treatment, he succumbed to his illness on November 17 at 9:08 PM.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed deep grief over Sagar’s demise. Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Majhi said, “It was deeply saddening to learn that Humane Sagar is no longer in this world. His heartwarming voice has touched the hearts of countless listeners, and his contributions to Odia music will always be remembered. I pray for the peace of his immortal soul and express my condolences to his grieving family during this difficult time.”

Following the singer’s death, his mother, Shefali Sagar, accused his manager and event organisers of pressuring him to perform despite his declining health. She stated that the singer had been unwell for some time but was repeatedly asked to perform at events, which, she claims, worsened his condition.

Humane Sagar married Shreya Mishra in 2017, and the couple has a daughter. His untimely death has sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans, colleagues, and fellow musicians across Odisha and beyond.

Sagar, who rose to fame with his melodious voice and versatility, leaves behind a lasting legacy in the Odia music industry. Authorities and fans alike are remembering him for his memorable performances and the emotional depth he brought to his songs.

The singer’s funeral arrangements and further details are expected to follow in accordance with his family’s wishes.
