Music composer and filmmaker Palash Muchhal is facing allegations of financial fraud after producer and actor Vaibhav Mane of Sangli district, Maharashtra, lodged a complaint claiming he was cheated out of ₹40 lakh in a film investment deal. A preliminary police investigation is currently underway, though no FIR has been registered so far.
According to the complaint filed with the Sangli Superintendent of Police, the dispute arose from an agreement related to Muchhal’s proposed film ‘Nazariya’. Mane stated that on December 5, 2023, he met Muchhal in Sangli to discuss investing in the film. Muchhal allegedly offered him the opportunity to participate as a producer, promising a return of ₹12 lakh on an investment of ₹25 lakh after the film’s release on an OTT platform. In addition, Mane claims he was offered a role in the project.
Mane said he subsequently provided a total of ₹40 lakh to Muchhal in multiple installments by March 2025. However, according to the complaint, the film was not completed, and when Mane requested the return of his investment, Muchhal did not respond. Citing non-payment, Mane approached the police to lodge a formal complaint.
Police officials confirmed that a preliminary inquiry has been initiated to verify the facts of the case. “An FIR has not yet been registered. We are currently conducting a preliminary investigation based on the complaint,” a Sangli police spokesperson said.
This is not the first time Muchhal has been in the public eye recently. Earlier, he had garnered attention following the cancellation of his high-profile marriage to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana. The wedding, initially scheduled for November 23, 2025, was postponed due to health issues faced by both families. On December 7, 2025, Mandhana officially announced the cancellation of the marriage via her Instagram account.
The allegations against Muchhal come amid his active involvement in the Indian music and film industry, where he has produced and composed multiple projects. Industry experts note that legal disputes over film investments are not uncommon, often highlighting the importance of formal contracts and regulatory oversight in financing arrangements.
The Sangli police are expected to continue their investigation, and an FIR may be registered depending on the outcome of the preliminary findings. No official statement has been issued by Muchhal or his representatives regarding the allegations.
