Paresh Rawal Declines Role in 'Drishyam 3', Praises Script But Rejects Character

In a surprising revelation, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has confirmed that he turned down a role in the highly anticipated Bollywood thriller, Drishyam 3. Despite heaping praise on the script, Rawal stated that the specific character offered to him did not resonate with him, leading to his decision to reject the part.

The news came to light during an interview with Bollywood Hungama. Rawal clarified that while the producers had approached him with the offer, he felt the role was not a suitable fit.

"Yes, the producers contacted me, but I didn't feel that this role was right for me," Rawal stated. He elaborated, "I didn't enjoy reading about my role. The script is indeed very good, but in any good script, you need a role that excites you, otherwise it won't be fun."

This decision marks a significant casting update for the third installment of the hit franchise. Drishyam 3 will see the return of Ajay Devgn as the cunning Vijay Salgaonkar and Shriya Saran as his wife, Nandini.

The film is set to be directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Kumar Mangat, with a release date slated for October 2, 2026.

The Drishyam series, known for its gripping cat-and-mouse narrative, began in Hindi with the 2015 film, a remake of the acclaimed 2013 Malayalam original.

The sequel, Drishyam 2, released in 2022, was also a remake of its 2021 Malayalam counterpart, which starred Mohanlal in the lead.

Interestingly, the development of Drishyam 3 is happening on two fronts. While Mohanlal has already commenced shooting for the Malayalam version, the Hindi adaptation is also expected to begin production shortly.

Despite Rawal's exit from the project, the excitement for Ajay Devgn's return to one of his most iconic roles continues to build among fans.
