Paul Rupesh Turns Action Director for Hollywood Thriller Contractor

Los Angeles: Indian filmmaker Paul Rupesh, known for directing international projects like Saint Dracula, The Secret Diaries of Monalisa, and Kama Sutra 3D, as well as Hindi films such as The Alchemist, The Traitor, and Spoof, and the web series Narcos India, is taking on a new role in his latest Hollywood venture, Contractor.

For the first time in his career, Rupesh is stepping in exclusively as an independent action choreographer, shaping the combat and tactical sequences of the film. While he has previously contributed to action design in several of his own projects, Contractor marks the first time he is focusing entirely on action direction for a U.S. production.

The film stars Thor Schenker, Anna Petrenko, and Abrar Zahoor Dhar, and centers on a tense world of covert intelligence, mercenaries, and shadow wars involving operations linked to the Central Intelligence Agency.

Adding to the film’s technical strength, K. G. Ratheesh serves as the Director of Photography, bringing a distinct visual language to the project, while Nandita Pashte joins as Co-Director, contributing to the film’s overall creative execution.

To achieve realism, Rupesh reportedly conducted extensive research using original operational footage and publicly available tactical training material of CIA operatives and special forces, studying real-world movement, weapons handling, and field procedures.

Contractor follows the story of Grace Monroe, a hardened operative caught in a web of political conspiracies and betrayals while dealing with the extraction and interrogation of a controversial intelligence asset. As the narrative unfolds, the film moves through ambushes, covert facilities, and psychological confrontations, with action sequences designed to reflect the tension and unpredictability of modern intelligence warfare.

With Contractor, Rupesh expands his creative role in international cinema, bringing his experience in storytelling and staging into the realm of high-intensity tactical action choreography for a global audience.
