The first look of Spirit, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-anticipated film starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri, was unveiled on New Year’s Day, offering audiences an early glimpse into what appears to be an intense, character-driven drama. The poster, released on social media by the director and the film’s makers, immediately drew attention for its stark visual mood and the powerful screen presence of its lead actors.
The poster shows Prabhas in a raw, stripped-down avatar, standing shirtless near a window, with long hair, a heavy beard and visible injuries wrapped in bandages across his shoulder, arm and back. A cigarette between his lips and a glass of alcohol in hand add to the brooding tone. Beside him stands Triptii Dimri in a light grey saree, calmly lighting his cigarette. Her composed expression contrasts sharply with Prabhas’s battered intensity, hinting at a layered relationship between the two characters.
Sharing the poster, Vanga described it as a New Year gift to fans and wrote, “Indian cinema… behold your Ajnubahu/Ajnubahu,” while the production team added that Spirit would introduce audiences to “things you never knew existed.” Though details of the storyline remain under wraps, the first look suggests a dark, emotionally charged narrative in line with Vanga’s previous work.
Spirit marks Prabhas’s first collaboration with Vanga, raising expectations among fans and trade observers alike. Known for his larger-than-life roles in pan-India blockbusters, Prabhas appears to be returning to a more grounded, physically demanding character. For Triptii Dimri, the film represents a significant step forward, placing her opposite one of the country’s biggest stars in a high-profile project.
Industry sources indicate that the casting of Triptii Dimri followed changes in the film’s lineup. Deepika Padukone was earlier in talks for the project, but the collaboration did not materialise. While no official statement has been issued by the actress or the production on the matter, reports suggest scheduling and professional considerations led to the recasting.
Currently in the pre-production phase, Spirit is expected to go on floors later this year. With the first look setting a serious and confrontational tone, the film has already generated strong online engagement. Trade analysts believe the pairing of Prabhas and Vanga, combined with Dimri’s rising popularity, positions Spirit as one of the most closely watched projects on the upcoming release slate.
