Sameer Wankhede argued that the series portrays him in a negative light and could damage his professional reputation. The court has taken note of his request and is expected to hear the matter soon
In 2021, Sameer Wankhede was the part of the team that arrested Aryan Khan under suspicion of possession of drugs during a cruise party in Mumbai. Aryan was later given a clean chit and Wankhede was accused of corruption.
In his request, Wankhede claimed that a specific scene in the show ‘mocks’ him. The matter was brought before the Delhi High Court today, though it is unclear which scene he is referring to. After the show’s release, viewers noticed a character resembling the former Narcotics Control Bureau officer.
In his statement,he has claimed that The Ba***ds of Bollywood has been "deliberately conceptualised and executed with the intent to malign Sameer Wankhede's reputation in a colourable and prejudicial manner."
"Especially when the case involving Sameer Wankhede and Aryan khan is pending and sub-judice before the Hon'ble Bombay High Court and the NDPS Special Court, Mumbai."
"Furthermore, the series, inter alia, depicts a character making an obscene gesture--specifically, showing a middle finger after the character recites the slogan “Satyamev Jayate” which is the part of the National Emblem. This act constitutes a grave and sensitive violation of the provisions of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which attracts penal consequences under law," continued Wankhede's statement.
