Shah Rukh Khan Gets Emotional as First Dubai Tower Named After Him Is Unveiled

Shah Rukh Khan on Friday unveiled the first real-estate property named after him, a 56-storey commercial tower in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in his three-decade career. The premium office complex, spread across nearly 4.5 lakh sq ft, was launched at a special event in Mumbai attended by industry colleagues, including filmmaker Farah Khan.

The actor grew emotional while recalling his mother during the ceremony. “My mother would have been very happy if she were alive today. This is a great honour for me,” he said, adding that it would be a moment of pride for his children as well. “When my kids visit, I will tell them, ‘Papa’s name is written here, this is Papa’s building.’”

Khan entertained the audience by recreating iconic moments from Om Shanti Om and Don, delivering the wit and charm he is known for. In a light-hearted moment, he joked about his limited public appearances: “I’ve become like the Eid moon. I am seen rarely, but when I appear, I look good.”

Despite the scale of the project, Khan said he never imagined anything outside films being named after him. “I don’t consider myself so important that something should be named after me apart from films. Cinema is my profession and my worship,” he said.

The tower, currently under construction, will feature a helipad, swimming pool and a dedicated statue of the actor at the entrance, offering visitors a photo opportunity. Developers expect the project to be completed in the next three to four years.

On the work front, Shah Rukh is preparing for his next film, King, directed by Siddharth Anand. The cast includes Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan and Abhay Verma.
