The sequel to Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 2016 hit Zootopia, the film follows Judy Hopps, the spirited rabbit police officer, as she navigates new adventures in the city of Zootopia. Directors Jared Bush and Byron Howard helmed the project, which continues the story of the animated buddy-cop comedy.
Speaking about her role, Shraddha Kapoor said she found Judy Hopps’ character closely aligned with her personality. “The role of Judy Hopps is very similar to me. She is intelligent, positive, and always enthusiastic. She can be tough when needed and soft at other times. Voicing her was a lot of fun,” she said.
Shraddha elaborated on the unique experience of dubbing for an animated character. “Giving my voice to a funny and cool bunny was completely different and enjoyable. I had to adjust my voice according to Judy’s emotions, whether she was angry, playful, or excited. It was fascinating to explore these nuances and truly become the voice of the character,” she added.
At a promotional event, media representatives were shown snippets of the film highlighting Judy Hopps’ expressions and energy in Shraddha’s voice. The actress’ involvement marks a notable collaboration between Bollywood talent and Hollywood animation, bringing a localized touch to the globally popular franchise.
The Hindi release of Zootopia 2 aims to make the film accessible to children and families across India, expanding its reach beyond English-speaking audiences. Disney’s localized approach underscores the growing trend of regional adaptations for global animated films, offering viewers an immersive cinematic experience in their native languages.
