Sohail Khan Apologises After Video Shows Traffic Violation and Verbal Abuse

Actor Sohail Khan on Sunday issued a public apology after a video showing him riding a motorcycle without a helmet and verbally abusing a passerby went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism over traffic rule violations and public conduct.

The controversy began when a bystander recorded Khan riding a bike without protective headgear. In the video, the actor is seen confronting the person filming him and using abusive language while asking him to stop recording. The clip spread rapidly online, prompting questions about accountability and whether traffic laws apply equally to celebrities.

Responding to the backlash, Khan posted a detailed apology on his official social media account. Acknowledging the violation, he urged all riders to wear helmets at all times and admitted that his own actions were wrong. He cited claustrophobia as the reason he sometimes avoids wearing a helmet but clarified that it does not justify breaking traffic rules.

“Riding has been my passion since childhood,” Khan wrote, adding that he usually rides late at night, at low speeds, and with a car following him to reduce risk. However, he conceded that personal precautions do not replace legal compliance.

In his statement, Khan apologised to traffic authorities and assured them that he would make efforts to overcome his discomfort and follow all road safety rules in the future. He also praised riders who consistently wear helmets despite discomfort, calling it essential for personal safety.

“I sincerely apologise,” he wrote, adding that safety must always take priority over convenience.

The incident has reignited discussions around celebrity responsibility and public behaviour, particularly in matters of road safety. Social media users had criticised Khan not only for riding without a helmet but also for his aggressive response to being filmed, arguing that public figures should set an example.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation from traffic police regarding any penalty or action related to the incident. The episode, however, has once again underscored the growing role of viral videos in holding public figures accountable for everyday violations.
