From Semiconductors to AI Infrastructure: Taiwan Excellence Strengthens Presence in India

In conversation with Vincent Lin, Director of Taipei World Trade Center Liaison Office in New Delhi.

  • What makes Convergence India Expo an important platform for Taiwan Excellence and Taiwanese technology brands to engage with the Indian market?

Convergence India Expo provides a valuable platform for Taiwan Excellence to engage directly with India’s technology ecosystem, including telecom operators, system integrators, enterprises, and policymakers. The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion this year will feature 17 leading Taiwanese technology companies showcasing innovations across Edge AI, AI infrastructure, connectivity, and smart mobility—areas closely aligned with India’s expanding digital infrastructure and AI adoption. The Expo enables meaningful conversations around real-world deployments and allows Taiwanese companies to demonstrate how their technologies can support India’s evolving digital ecosystem.

  • How do such industry expos help strengthen Taiwan’s positioning as a global technology and innovation hub among Indian enterprises and system integrators?

Industry expos provide a strong platform to showcase Taiwan’s integrated technology ecosystem—from semiconductor innovation to enterprise-ready digital solutions. Taiwan’s advanced semiconductor and computing capabilities form a critical foundation for many global AI technologies, reinforcing its reputation as an “AI Island.” For Indian enterprises and system integrators, these engagements offer direct exposure to Taiwanese innovations in AI computing, networking, and industrial technology, strengthening Taiwan’s position as a trusted technology partner.

  • From your past participation in technology showcases in India, what tangible business outcomes have you seen in terms of partnerships, distribution networks, or market expansion?

Technology showcases in India have helped Taiwanese companies build strong distribution networks and system integration partnerships, which are essential for scaling in a large and diverse market. These platforms have enabled brands to expand across sectors such as enterprise IT infrastructure, telecom networks, industrial automation, and AI computing. More importantly, they create opportunities for solution-level collaboration with Indian technology partners, often leading to long-term business relationships.

  • How does the growing India–Taiwan trade relationship influence technology collaboration and business opportunities for Taiwanese companies in India?

The strengthening economic relationship between India and Taiwan is creating a strong foundation for deeper technology collaboration. Bilateral trade reached approximately USD 12.516 billion, reflecting growing commercial engagement.  With India accelerating investments in digital infrastructure and Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductors, ICT, and electronics manufacturing, the partnership presents significant opportunities in areas such as AI infrastructure, networking technologies, smart mobility, and industrial automation.

  • India is often described as a strategic growth market. What factors make India particularly important for Taiwanese technology companies today?

India is one of the most dynamic technology markets globally, driven by rapid digital infrastructure expansion and strong policy momentum. Investments in AI, cloud, telecom networks, and smart cities are creating demand for advanced computing and connectivity solutions. At the same time, India’s large technology talent pool, thriving start-up ecosystem, and government-led digital initiatives are accelerating enterprise technology adoption. Combined with global supply chain diversification, these factors make India a strategic growth market for Taiwanese technology companies.

  • What are the key objectives Taiwan Excellence hopes to achieve through its participation at Convergence India Expo 2026?

Taiwan Excellence aims to showcase Taiwan’s capabilities across the AI and digital infrastructure ecosystem while strengthening partnerships with Indian enterprises and system integrators. This year’s participation is anchored around the theme “From Silicon to Solutions: Building India’s AI Infrastructure Backbone with Taiwan,” highlighting how Taiwanese companies contribute across the entire technology value chain—from semiconductors to integrated AI solutions.

  • While the market opportunity is significant, what are some of the key challenges Taiwanese companies face when entering or scaling their presence in India?

India’s scale and diversity require strong local partnerships and effective distribution networks to reach enterprise customers across regions. Companies also need to adapt solutions to local industry requirements and navigate evolving regulatory and procurement frameworks. Many Taiwanese firms address these challenges by collaborating closely with Indian system integrators and building localized technical support and market partnerships.

  • What are some of the standout technologies or ‘showstopper’ innovations visitors can expect to see at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion this year?

The Taiwan Excellence Pavilion will feature a range of advanced technologies spanning Edge AI computing, AI infrastructure and high-performance storage, next-generation networking, and smart mobility solutions. A key highlight will be the launch of five new AI-focused products at the Expo, demonstrating practical applications of AI across enterprise and industrial environments. Together, these innovations showcase Taiwan’s ability to deliver scalable technologies that support real-world digital transformation.
