India’s 7.8% Growth Boosts Push for Stronger US Investment Ties

Ambassador Vinay Kwatra highlighted India’s 7.8% FY27 growth at Nasdaq, calling for stronger partnerships with US investors and technology firms.

Ambassador Vinay Kwatra highlighted India’s strong FY27 growth at Nasdaq, calling for deeper partnerships with US technology companies, investors and institutions.

India is using its latest 7.8 per cent real GDP growth to strengthen its pitch for greater investment and technology partnerships with the United States, Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Kwatra said while ringing the opening bell at Nasdaq.

Kwatra highlighted India's economic performance during the April-June quarter of FY27 and presented the growth momentum as a foundation for closer commercial ties between the two countries.

His remarks came as New Delhi continues efforts to attract global capital and expand cooperation with American companies across technology, digital infrastructure, innovation and skilled talent.

Kwatra Highlights 7.8% Growth

India recorded real GDP growth of 7.8 per cent in the first quarter of FY27, providing fresh momentum to the government's efforts to promote the country as an attractive destination for global investment.

Kwatra pointed to strong domestic demand, a growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, expanding digital capabilities and India's young workforce as key factors behind the country's economic transformation.

He said these strengths were creating new opportunities for international businesses seeking access to India's expanding market and technology ecosystem.

The ambassador described India as the fastest-growing large economy and said its growth story offered a strong foundation for closer economic engagement with the US.

Nasdaq Ceremony Signals Partnership

Kwatra's participation in the Nasdaq opening-bell ceremony placed technology and capital markets at the centre of India's investment outreach.

Nasdaq is home to many of the world's leading technology and technology-linked companies, making the venue particularly relevant to India's efforts to deepen its relationship with the US technology sector.

“One of the greatest pillars of our current and emerging partnership is the partnership with the companies in the community of technology leadership companies in Nasdaq,” Kwatra said.

He highlighted technology companies, infrastructure, capital and skilled professionals as important components of the expanding bilateral relationship.

India Woos US Investors

The ambassador said India wants to build on its economic momentum by expanding engagement with American businesses, investors and institutions.

“We look forward to an even stronger partnership with American businesses, investors and institutions,” he said.

India has increasingly positioned itself not only as a large consumer market but also as a base for technology development, digital services, manufacturing and innovation.

The government is seeking to attract more foreign investment while encouraging international companies to establish or expand operations in the country.

Technology At Heart Of Ties

Technology is emerging as one of the most important areas of India-US economic cooperation.

India's large digital infrastructure, expanding technology workforce and growing startup ecosystem have created opportunities for American companies across software, artificial intelligence, digital payments, semiconductors and other emerging sectors.

Kwatra's comments at Nasdaq underscored New Delhi's intention to make technology cooperation a central part of the next phase of bilateral commercial relations.

Greater collaboration could also involve investment in digital infrastructure and partnerships between Indian and American technology companies.

Skilled Workforce Adds Strength

India's young workforce remains another important element of the country's investment proposition.

The availability of skilled professionals has helped India establish itself as a major destination for global technology and business services.

Kwatra said skilled talent, alongside digital capabilities and entrepreneurship, was contributing to India's economic transformation.

For American businesses, deeper engagement with India could provide access to both a large domestic market and a substantial pool of technology professionals.

G20 Adds Economic Focus

The Nasdaq event took place around the time Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was visiting the US for the G20 finance ministers' meeting.

Her visit provided an additional economic backdrop to India's efforts to engage international investors and highlight its growth and reform agenda.

The simultaneous focus on economic policy, investment and technology reflects India's broader strategy of using international platforms to promote its growth story.

For New Delhi, stronger US commercial engagement is an important part of efforts to attract capital and integrate India more deeply into global technology and investment networks.

India-US Economic Ties

Kwatra's appearance at Nasdaq was intended to reinforce the message that India's economic expansion can create opportunities for American businesses and investors.

In a post on X, the ambassador described the event as reflecting the growing strength and promise of the India-US partnership and highlighted Nasdaq-listed companies as important pillars of that relationship.

As India continues to pursue foreign investment and technology partnerships, the combination of strong economic growth, digital infrastructure, skilled talent and a large consumer market is likely to remain central to its pitch to US businesses.

The 7.8 per cent first-quarter growth figure gives that pitch additional momentum, even as both countries work to broaden their commercial relationship across technology, investment and innovation.
