Malabar Group Allocates ₹150 Crore for CSR in 2025-26, Aims to Serve 25 Million Meals Under ‘Hunger-Free World’

In a significant step towards social transformation, Malabar Group — the parent company of Malabar Gold & Diamonds — has allocated ₹150 crore for its CSR initiatives for the financial year 2025–26. The focus areas include healthcare, education, hunger and poverty eradication, women empowerment, environmental conservation, and housing for the underprivileged.

A major highlight is the group’s commitment to distributing 70,000 meals daily in India and Zambia under its flagship CSR campaign, ‘Hunger-Free World’, totaling 25 million meals throughout the year. This is a major leap from the 25 million meals already distributed over the past three years. The initiative aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger.

The next phase of CSR programs was officially launched by Dr. Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog and G20 Sherpa, at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, New Delhi. The launch coincided with World Hunger Day on May 28, and was attended by key dignitaries including Malabar Group Chairman M.P. Ahammed, Vice Chairman K.P. Abdul Salam, and Managing Director of India Operations O. Asher.

Chairman M.P. Ahammed emphasized,

“CSR is deeply rooted in our values at Malabar. We dedicate May 28 as our annual CSR Day and reaffirm our commitment to support the marginalized. Immediate action is critical as over 295 million people globally suffer from acute hunger. Through initiatives like ours, we aim not just to distribute food, but to drive sustainable change through employment, production and economic growth.”

In India, over 60,000 meals are distributed daily across 167 centers in 20 states, while in Zambia, the group partners with the local government to serve 10,000 students across three schools. These efforts are backed by state-of-the-art kitchens with trained chefs and high sanitation standards.

In the education sector, Malabar has established 716 micro-learning centers across India through its partnership with Thanal, offering basic education and nutrition to over 32,000 children, 9,000 of whom have already transitioned to formal schooling. Additionally, 1.14 lakh girl students have been provided scholarships to continue their education.

The group’s ‘Grandma Homes’ initiative offers free shelter and care for destitute women. Currently operating in Bengaluru, Kerala, and Hyderabad, it is set to expand to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata.

For healthcare, Malabar plans to open 140 non-profit medical stores across Kerala, with 27 already functional, offering affordable medicines.

The ‘Uyirappu Project’, launched to support students affected by landslides in Wayanad, currently provides financial aid to 134 students for higher education.

Since its inception, Malabar Gold & Diamonds has allocated 5% of its net profits to social welfare activities.
