Padmesh Unveils Its Logo, Celebrating Odisha’s Silver Filigree Legacy and Maritime Heritage

Padmesh marked a significant milestone with the official unveiling of its logo by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Aparajita Sarangi, at Hotel Crystal Crown, Bhubaneswar on 11th April 2026. The launch, held on the auspicious occasion of the Odia New Year, brought together heritage, craftsmanship, and contemporary vision under one unified identity.

Speaking at the event, Aparajita Sarangi appreciated the thoughtful conceptualisation behind the Padmesh logo, which draws from the rich legacy of Odisha’s GI-tagged craft, Cuttack Rupa Tarakasi or silver filigree. She highlighted how the integration of the Kalinga ship as a central symbol reflects a deep respect for the region’s cultural and historical roots while presenting it in a refined, modern context. The logo, she noted, beautifully captures the essence of craftsmanship and identity that defines Odisha’s artisanal heritage.

The Padmesh insignia is inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Bali Jatra, a historic maritime festival that commemorates the voyages of ancient Odia traders, known as Sadhabas, who sailed to Bali and other parts of Southeast Asia. This voyage of trade, dating back nearly 500 years, represents one of India’s earliest examples of global cultural and commercial exchange. The Kalinga ship, as depicted in the logo, stands as a symbol of this journey, embodying movement, exchange, and the spread of Indian craftsmanship across borders.

This acknowledgment reinforces the relevance of Odisha’s maritime history in shaping India’s global identity.
