Sharvi Patwardhan’s Debut Novel Karthika Savarkar Celebrates Bharat’s Heritage Through the Power of Storytelling

Young author Sharvi Patwardhan marked the beginning of her literary journey with the launch of her debut novel, Karthika Savarkar, at Title Waves Bookstore in Mumbai. Published by India’s leading traditional publishing brand Anecdote Publishing House. The novel introduces readers to a fantasy adventure inspired by Bharat’s Itihas, philosophy and history, while encouraging young readers to reconnect with the country’s civilisational heritage through engaging storytelling.

The book launch was attended by Dr. Anjali Saraogi, Founder and CEO of Career Saarthi, who graced the event as the Chief Guest, alongside Ekta Bhandari, Founder of Read A Kitaab, who attended as the Guest of Honour. The event brought together educators, authors, readers and members of the literary community to celebrate the launch of a young author whose vision is rooted in preserving and presenting Bharat’s knowledge traditions for a new generation.

For Sharvi Patwardhan, Karthika Savarkar is not simply a work of fiction. It is the result of years of learning, observation and reflection. Growing up, Sharvi Patwardhan noticed that many young Bharatiyas often viewed their own traditions as outdated, only to embrace them once they gained international recognition. Whether it was Yoga, Ayurveda, meditation or other aspects of Bharat’s civilisational heritage, Sharvi Patwardhan felt that appreciation frequently arrived only after Western validation.

Instead of responding with criticism, Sharvi Patwardhan decided to create a story that would naturally inspire curiosity about Bharat’s own traditions.

Drawing inspiration from globally loved fantasy adventures, Sharvi Patwardhan has woven together Indian Itihas, yogic philosophy, Ayurveda, chakra traditions, Bharatiya warrior culture and the spirit of the freedom movement into a fictional narrative designed to entertain while introducing readers to India's rich intellectual and cultural heritage.

Born in Bharat and raised in Qatar, Sharvi Patwardhan remained closely connected to her roots through the guidance of her mother, Amruta Patwardhan. From an early age, Sharvi Patwardhan was introduced to the Ramayana, Mahabharata, the lives of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar and the sacrifices of Bharat's freedom fighters. Alongside these stories came an appreciation for Yoga, Ayurveda and Indian philosophical traditions, all of which later became central to the world created in Karthika Savarkar.

The journey from manuscript to publication was supported throughout by Sharvi Patwardhan's father, Sachin Patwardhan. His encouragement remained constant during the writing, editing and publishing process, helping Sharvi Patwardhan transform an idea into a published novel.IMG-20260728-WA0020

Speaking during the launch, Sharvi Patwardhan said, "I wanted to write the kind of book I would have loved to read growing up. A story where young readers first fall in love with the adventure, and through that journey naturally discover the richness of Bharat's heritage. My hope is that they reconnect with their roots not because they are told to, but because they genuinely find them inspiring."

Apart from becoming a published author at 17, Sharvi Patwardhan has also achieved academic excellence by securing 97.4 percent in the CBSE Grade 12 Board Examinations and emerging as her school's topper. Sharvi Patwardhan will soon begin undergraduate studies in Public Policy and Global Affairs at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Sharvi Patwardhan is also a TEDx speaker, reflecting her passion for youth leadership, public speaking and education.

Through Karthika Savarkar, Sharvi Patwardhan hopes to encourage young Bharatiyas to rediscover Bharat's history, philosophy and cultural traditions through stories that inspire imagination, confidence and curiosity. The launch represents the beginning of a literary journey driven by the belief that ancient wisdom and modern storytelling can successfully exist together.
