In a strategic move that defies political resistance from former President Donald Trump, Apple CEO Tim Cook is steering the tech giant toward deeper investments in India. The construction of the world’s largest iPhone manufacturing campus is underway, signaling a major shift in Apple’s global production strategy and reinforcing India’s growing role as a tech manufacturing hub.

 
 

US President Donald Trump had recently warned iPhone maker Apple CEO Tim Cook not to build a plant in India. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook has shown the mirror to Donald Trump and is building the world's largest iPhone manufacturing campus in India. Apple is building the world's largest campus in Karnataka. Despite Trump's warning, Cook is moving ahead with his plan. The target is to make about 100,000 iPhones in the Karnataka unit by December 2025.

Foxconn has invested Rs 3000 crore in the first phase (2023-24). There is a plan to invest the same amount during the second phase (2026-27). This Project Elephant is part of Foxconn's China+1 strategy, which aims to diversify production outside that country.

Foxconn, the world's largest electronics manufacturer, has invested $2.56 billion in its Devanahalli plant. It is building a 300-acre hostel for its workers, which is spread across Dodagollahaddi and Chapparadahalli villages in Devanahalli tuluk. It is about 23 km from Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport. Foxconn has invested Rs 3000 crore in the first phase (2023-24) and plans to invest the same amount during the second phase (2026-27). Also, the manufacturing target of iPhones has been set to 1,00,000 by December this year.
