NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Applications Open July 20 for 6,777 Posts

Northeast Frontier Railway has thrown open one of its largest apprenticeship drives of the year, with applications opening later this month for nearly 6,800 positions across trades.

Key dates
Online applications open July 20 and close August 19, 2026, with the fee payment deadline aligned to the same closing date.

Vacancy breakdown
The recruitment covers 6,777 posts in total, distributed across categories as follows: General 2,686, OBC 1,832, EWS 688, SC 1,056 and ST 515.

Eligibility
Candidates must have passed Class 10 with at least 50 percent marks from a recognised board, along with an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an NCVT or SCVT-recognised institution. The age limit is 15 to 24 years as on August 19, 2026, with category-wise relaxations applicable as per Railway norms.

Application fee
General, OBC and EWS candidates need to pay โ‚น100, while SC, ST, PwBD and all female candidates are exempt from the fee. Payment can be made online via debit card, credit card, internet banking, IMPS or mobile wallet.

Selection process
Selection will be based on a merit list, drawn up according to NFR's evaluation criteria once applications close.

How to apply
Candidates can apply directly through NFR's official recruitment portal once the window opens on July 20. Aspirants are advised to read the detailed official notification carefully before filling out the form, paying close attention to the exact age limit, qualification requirements and last date specific to their category.

With ITI-trade apprenticeships remaining one of the more accessible entry points into railway employment, this NFR drive gives a fresh window for technically qualified candidates in the Northeast to get into the system — provided they get their applications in before the August 19 deadline.
