AIBE 21 Exam 2026 Registration Opens; Last Date, Eligibility and How to Apply

The Bar Council of India (BCI) has commenced the online registration process for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 21 for 2026, inviting law graduates across the country to apply for the mandatory licensure test. The exam is scheduled to be conducted later this year, and interested candidates are required to complete their applications through the official portal before the deadline.

Law graduates and final-year law students eligible for enrolment with State Bar Councils are eligible to register for AIBE 21. The exam is compulsory for law graduates seeking a certificate of practice to practise in courts across India.

AIBE 21 is the 2026 iteration of the statutory examination that assesses an aspirant’s analytical competence, understanding of the law, and ability to apply legal knowledge in practical scenarios. Successful candidates receive the “Certificate of Practice,” enabling them to represent clients in Indian courts.

The online application window has opened this week. Candidates must submit their forms well before the last date, which the Bar Council of India has set as March 15, 2026. The examination date is expected to be announced soon on the official AIBE website following completion of the registration phase.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the official Bar Council of India exam portal at aibe21.https://allindiabarexamination.com. The examination itself will be conducted at designated centres across states and union territories, with city lists shared along with admit cards.

The AIBE ensures that new lawyers have requisite foundational knowledge of key legal subjects and professional ethics before entering legal practice. It also aims to harmonise the standard of legal professionals practising nationwide and uphold the integrity of legal services.

Candidates must visit the official website, register using a valid email ID and mobile number, and upload requisite documents, including educational certificates and enrolment certificates from their State Bar Council. Following verification, applicants must pay the examination fee online through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI. Only completed applications with successful fee payment will be accepted.

The Bar Council has emphasised that candidates must check eligibility criteria carefully and ensure all information provided in the application is accurate, as discrepancies can lead to rejection.

AIBE 21 is expected to follow the Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) format covering subjects such as Constitutional Law, Contract Act, Criminal Law, Evidence Act, Civil Procedure Code, and Professional Ethics. Previous years’ question papers and official syllabus guides are available on the exam portal for aspirants’ preparation.

BCI officials have advised candidates to keep track of official notifications to avoid last-minute confusion and ensure timely submission.
