CBSE Postpones Class 10 and 12 Board Exams Scheduled for March 3; Revised Dates Announced

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed select Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations that were scheduled to be held on March 3, 2026. The decision, announced through an official notification, has been taken due to administrative reasons, the board said.
According to CBSE, only the examinations originally fixed for March 3 have been rescheduled. All other papers will be conducted as per the existing date sheet, and no further changes have been made to the examination timetable.
As per the revised schedule, the Class 10 examination that was to be held on March 3, 2026, will now take place on March 11, 2026. For Class 12 students, the change is more significant. The paper earlier scheduled for March 3 has been postponed to April 10, 2026.
The board clarified that the postponement applies strictly to the specific papers slated for March 3 and does not affect examinations scheduled before or after that date. Students have been advised to rely only on official CBSE communications for updates and to avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
In its notice, CBSE stated that the rescheduling was necessary to ensure smooth conduct of the examinations. While the board did not elaborate on the exact administrative reasons, officials indicated that logistical considerations prompted the decision.
The CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations are among the largest academic assessments in the country, with lakhs of students appearing each year from schools in India and abroad. Any change in the schedule is closely watched by students, parents, and schools due to its impact on preparation timelines and subsequent admission processes.
Education experts say the revised dates provide students with additional preparation time, particularly for the Class 12 cohort whose postponed paper now falls in April. However, they have also advised students to recalibrate their study plans carefully to avoid last-minute pressure.
Schools affiliated with CBSE have been instructed to inform students promptly and update internal academic calendars accordingly. Examination centres and supervisory staff have also been notified about the revised dates to ensure coordination at the ground level.
CBSE has urged candidates to regularly check the board’s official website for detailed subject-wise date sheets, admit card updates, and further instructions related to the examinations. Any future changes, if required, will be communicated in advance, the board assured.
For now, students appearing for the 2026 board examinations are advised to continue their preparations in line with the existing schedule, keeping in mind the revised dates for the affected papers.
