DRDO issues recruitment notification for 195 apprentice posts; Opportunity for Engineers, Apply from September 27

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has released a recruitment notification for 195 apprentice positions at Research Centre Imarat (RCI), Hyderabad, providing a significant opportunity for fresh graduates, diploma holders, and ITI certificate holders to gain hands-on experience in India's premier defence research organization.

 

Vacancy Details

The recruitment encompasses three categories of apprenticeships: Graduate Apprentice (40 posts), Technician (Diploma) Apprentice (20 posts), and ITI Trade Apprentice (135 posts). This distribution ensures opportunities for candidates with different educational backgrounds and technical qualifications.

Educational Qualifications

For Graduate Apprentice positions, candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. Technician Apprentice positions require diplomas in similar fields, while ITI Trade Apprentice roles accept candidates with ITI certification in trades including Fitter, Welder, Turner, Machinist, Mechanic Diesel, Electronic Mechanic, Electronics, Electrician, Library Assistant, and COPA.

A crucial requirement is that only candidates who scored 70% or more marks in their qualifying examinations from 2021 to 2025 are eligible to apply. The minimum age requirement is 18 years as of September 1, 2025.

Selection Process and Stipend

The selection process is merit-based, involving shortlisting based on academic qualifications, followed by document verification. No written examination is required, making the process straightforward for eligible candidates. Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 9,000, depending on the position.

Application Process

The application window opens on September 27, 2025, and closes on October 26, 2025. Candidates must register on specific portals based on their category: Graduate and Diploma candidates should use the National Apprentice Training Scheme (NATS) portal at nats.education.gov.in, while ITI Trade Apprentice candidates must register on apprenticeshipindia.gov.in.

The application process requires candidates to use the Research Center Building Enrollment ID STLRACO00010 when registering through the relevant portal. Essential documents include educational certificates, identity proof, Aadhaar card, photographs, and medical fitness certificates.

This one-year apprenticeship program under the Apprentices Act 1961 offers valuable practical training at Vignyana Kancha, Hyderabad, providing participants with real-world exposure to defence research projects and enhancing their career prospects in the technical and defence sectors.
