DUSU Election 2025 Voting Underway in Two Shifts: 2.8 Lakh students to decide Tomorrow’s results
Digital Desk
Voting is in full swing today for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election, with approximately 2.8 lakh eligible voters across 52 colleges. The polling process, conducted at 195 booths, is divided into two shifts:
-
Day College: 8:30 AM–1:00 PM
Evening College: 3:00 PM–7:30 PM
Under tight security measures, students are casting votes to elect the DUSU President, Vice President, Secretary, and Joint Secretary, alongside college-level representatives. Robust arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth and fair voting experience, with university officials and security personnel stationed at all polling booths.
Handmade Posters Only as Campaign Rules Tighten
In a move to maintain campus cleanliness and curb unauthorized advertising, Delhi University has mandated that only handmade posters are permissible for election campaigning. The use of printed posters, hoardings, or graffiti is strictly prohibited. This decision follows the 2024 elections, where the Delhi High Court temporarily stayed results due to widespread littering of printed campaign materials. The hold was lifted once students cleaned the campus grounds.
ABVP Confident of a Clean Sweep
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has expressed confidence in securing all four major posts. An ABVP candidate asserted, “We are poised to win the election 4-0,” underscoring the significance of today’s turnout in shaping student leadership for the coming year.
Counting and Result Declaration Tomorrow
With polling concluding at 7:30 PM, vote counting will commence tomorrow, September 19, at designated counting centers. Results for all posts, including college-level representatives, are expected to be announced later in the day.
Stay tuned for live updates and outcome analysis as Delhi University awaits the next chapter in its student governance.
