According to officials, the application process is expected to begin in the last week of December 2025 or the first week of January 2026. Eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications through the official portal, rrbapply.gov.in. The detailed schedule, including the last date for submission, will be announced separately.
The vacancies cover a wide range of posts such as Track Maintainer Grade IV, Assistant Track Machine, Assistant (Bridge), Assistant (TRD), Pointsman-B, Assistant Loco Shed, and other technical and non-technical roles. Of the total posts, the highest number—11,000—are for Track Maintainer Grade IV, followed by 5,000 posts for Pointsman-B in the Traffic department.
Applicants must have passed Class 10 or possess an NCVT-recognised National Apprenticeship Certificate. The age limit has been set between 18 and 36 years, providing relaxation to candidates who fall within extended eligibility criteria as per government norms.
The application fee is ₹500 for candidates belonging to the General, OBC and EWS categories, while SC, ST, women, EBC and transgender candidates will have to pay ₹250.
Selection will be conducted through a Computer-Based Test, followed by a Physical Efficiency Test, document verification and a medical examination. The CBT will consist of 100 objective-type questions covering General Science, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Awareness. The exam will be held in multiple regional languages, including Hindi, English and 13 other Indian languages.
Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary ranging from ₹22,500 to ₹25,380, as per Level 1 pay norms. Applicants are advised to regularly check the official website for updates and apply only through authorised channels.
