Candidates applying for the primary level must meet one of the following educational qualifications: They should have passed 10+2 (Intermediate or equivalent) with at least 50% marks along with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC) or equivalent qualification. Alternatively, candidates with 45% marks in 10+2 and a recognized diploma in elementary education may also be eligible as per NCTE norms. Another eligibility option includes 10+2 with 50% marks along with a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed). Candidates with special education diplomas or those who have completed equivalent recognized teacher training courses are also eligible. Additionally, graduates with a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education can also apply for primary level teaching eligibility.

Eligibility for Junior Level (Class 6-8)

For junior level teaching eligibility, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline along with a recognized teacher training qualification such as: A 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed/BTC), or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed/L.T./Shiksha Shastri) as per NCTE regulations. Candidates with at least 45% to 50% marks in graduation and a B.Ed degree are also eligible depending on category and regulations. Other acceptable qualifications include integrated programs like B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed, as well as B.Ed in Special Education. Postgraduate candidates with 55% marks and a 3-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed program are also eligible for appearing in the JHTET examination.
