NHM Maharashtra Opens Recruitment for 1,974 Community Health Officer Posts

The National Health Mission (NHM), Maharashtra, has announced recruitment for 1,974 posts of Community Health Officers (CHO), inviting applications from eligible candidates across the state. Interested candidates can apply online through the official website, nhm.maharashtra.gov.in, before the last date on November 14, 2025.

The vacancies are distributed across categories, with 900 posts open to general candidates, 243 for OBC, 197 for SEBC, 197 for EWS, 143 for SC, 103 for ST, 72 for SBC, and smaller allocations for VJ(A), NT(B), and NT(C) categories.

Eligible applicants must hold a BSc, BAMS, or BUMS degree in the relevant field and be registered with the State Nursing Council or a recognized professional board. Candidates should be aged between 18 and 45 years, with age relaxations applicable for reserved categories as per government norms.

The selection process will comprise a written examination followed by an interview. The written exam will include three papers: Paper 1 covering public health, human body basics, child and adolescent health, maternal health, family planning, communicable and non-communicable diseases, nutrition, mental health, skill-based questions, referral linkage, elderly and palliative care, emergency services, and oral ENT; Paper 2 on general knowledge; and Paper 3 on NHM program-related topics. Each paper will be evaluated out of 100 marks, and the exam will be conducted in Marathi and English.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary of Rs. 40,000, along with other allowances. Application fees are Rs. 1,000 for general candidates, Rs. 900 for SC, ST, OBC, and orphan candidates, while ex-servicemen can apply free of cost.

To apply, candidates must register on the NHM portal, complete the online form, upload required documents, pay the applicable fee, and retain a printout of the submitted application. This recruitment drive aims to strengthen Maharashtra’s primary healthcare workforce, particularly in tribal and rural areas, supporting the state’s health initiatives under the National Health Mission.
