NTA Clarifies: Calculators Banned in JEE Main 2026 After Bulletin Error; Applications Open Until November 27

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday issued a clarification confirming that calculators will not be allowed in the upcoming JEE Main 2026 examination. The announcement came after an error in the official information bulletin had incorrectly stated that an on-screen calculator would be available during the Computer-Based Test (CBT).

In its public notice, the NTA admitted the mistake, saying, “NTA regrets the error in the JEE Main 2026 information bulletin and the inconvenience caused to candidates.” The agency clarified that while some general tests may feature on-screen calculators, JEE Main will not permit the use of any kind of calculator.

Candidates have been advised to download the revised information bulletin from the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, for updated exam guidelines.

The JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two sessions — the first from January 21 to 30, 2026, and the second from April 1 to 10, 2026. The application process for Session 1 is currently underway, and candidates can register online until November 27, 2025.

In a move aimed at improving accessibility for students, the NTA has also expanded the number of exam cities to 323 across the country, making it easier for candidates from smaller towns and remote regions to participate.
