Rae Bareli’s Shivam Singh Cracks UPSC with 73rd Rank, Becomes IAS

IAS Shivam Singh Success Story The results of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024 have brought a proud moment for Rae Bareli. Shivam Singh of Pakra village of Dalmau development block has hoisted the flag of hard work and dedication of his simple family not only in the district but in the whole country by securing 73rd rank. This success of Shivam, son of father Ram Naresh Singh, who runs a small stationery kiosk, is a living example of realizing dreams in difficult circumstances.

Obtained BTech and MTech degree
Shivam's journey was not easy. His father sells stationery in a tin kiosk outside Vikas Bhavan, mother is a housewife, and elder brother is employed in the corporate sector. After early education and intermediate in Rae Bareli, Shivam obtained BTech from a private college in Lucknow and MTech degree from IIT in 2019. The dream of joining the administrative service arose in his mind during his studies.

Became SDM by securing 38th rank in 2021

In 2021, Shivam became SDM by securing 38th rank in the UPPSC exam, but his goal was to become an IAS. He continued preparing for UPSC even amidst the responsibilities of SDM. Not giving up, Shivam worked twice as hard and fulfilled his dream of becoming an IAS with 73rd rank in 2024. Currently he is undergoing training as Customs and GST Officer in Palasamundram, Andhra Pradesh.

Shivam never cried over the circumstances
