The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has postponed the Assistant Engineer (AEN) Main Examination and announced a revised schedule, with the test now set for March 22 and 23 instead of the earlier dates of March 15 and 16. The decision, announced in Ajmer on Monday, affects thousands of candidates competing for engineering posts in state services.
Commission Secretary Ramniwas Mehta said the updated timetable has been uploaded to the commission’s official website along with detailed instructions for candidates. On March 22, the Hindi paper will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the Social Aspects of Engineering paper from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The technical papers are scheduled for March 23, covering Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, and Agricultural Engineering streams. Each discipline will have two papers, held in morning and afternoon shifts respectively.
The recruitment drive aims to fill 1,036 Assistant Engineer vacancies across departments. The number of posts was initially advertised as 1,014 but was later revised upward after changes in vacancy calculations. Civil Engineering posts increased from 125 to 140, while Electrical Engineering vacancies rose from 20 to 27. Officials said the revision was made after departments reassessed staffing requirements.
The commission has advised candidates to carefully review the revised guidelines, reporting time, and examination protocols to avoid last-minute confusion. Admit cards, exam centres, and other logistical details will remain unchanged unless separately notified, according to officials.
The AEN recruitment process began with the preliminary examination conducted between September 28 and 30, 2025. Candidates who qualified in that stage are eligible to appear for the mains examination, which is the decisive written phase before interviews and final selection.
Sources within the commission indicated that the rescheduling was undertaken to streamline administrative arrangements and ensure smooth conduct of the examination across centres. Though no specific reason was officially cited, officials emphasized that adequate notice has been provided to allow candidates to adjust travel and preparation plans.
The AEN examination is considered one of Rajasthan’s key technical recruitment tests, attracting engineering graduates from across the state. Successful candidates will be appointed to engineering posts in various government departments, where they will be responsible for infrastructure planning, project execution, and technical supervision.
Further updates regarding answer keys, results, and interview schedules will be released after completion of the mains examination.
