The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has announced that the Senior Teacher (Secondary Education Department) Recruitment Examination 2025 will be conducted as per the scheduled timetable from July 12 to July 18, 2026. The commission has also revised the total number of vacancies to 9,651.
The clarification comes as a major relief for more than 1.23 million candidates who have applied for the recruitment process and were awaiting a decision amid legal proceedings related to the examination.
According to RPSC, the recruitment was originally notified through Advertisement No. 07/2025-26 on July 17, 2025, for 6,500 posts across 10 subjects. Subsequently, the number of vacancies was increased to 10,537. However, the commission stated that recruitment rules permit an increase of only up to 50 per cent of the originally advertised posts.
As a result, a revised corrigendum has been issued, reducing the total number of vacancies to 9,651. The commission said the amended figure complies with existing recruitment regulations and will serve as the final vacancy count for the ongoing selection process.
The issue came up during hearings before the Jaipur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court, where petitions sought postponement of the examination and reopening of the application process. During the proceedings, RPSC presented its position and informed the court about the revised vacancy calculation.
Following this, the commission issued Corrigendum No. 11/2026-27 and reiterated that the examination schedule would remain unchanged. It also clarified that all other conditions mentioned in the original recruitment advertisement will continue to apply.
Subject-wise distribution of vacancies shows Mathematics accounting for the highest number of posts at 2,076, followed closely by Science with 2,031 positions. English has 1,956 vacancies, while Hindi accounts for 1,577 posts. Sanskrit has 1,323 vacancies and Social Science 600.
Among language subjects, Urdu has 71 vacancies, Punjabi 14, Sindhi 2 and Gujarati 1 post.
The commission has stated that category-wise vacancy details will be released separately in the coming days.
The Senior Teacher recruitment examination is one of the largest teacher recruitment drives currently underway in Rajasthan. Given the scale of participation, authorities are making extensive preparations to ensure smooth conduct of the examination across designated centres in the state.
With the schedule now officially confirmed, candidates can focus on their final phase of preparation ahead of the week-long examination beginning on July 12.
