SSC GD Exam 2026: Could the Exam Be Postponed? Three Key Indicators
Digital Desk
Uncertainty surrounds the SSC GD 2026 exam as candidates await confirmation from the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). While the SSC MTS 2026 exam has been ongoing since 4 February, the GD exam was initially scheduled to begin on 23 February. However, several signs suggest a possible postponement.
SSC had announced tentative dates for the MTS and GD exams on 2 January 2026 via its official website, ssc.gov.in. The MTS exam is being conducted from 4 to 19 February, but reports indicate that several centers in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Karnataka were cancelled and may require rescheduling. This could create time constraints, signaling a potential delay in the GD exam schedule.
Delay in Slot Booking
Typically, candidates can book exam slots a few days before the test. However, slot booking for the GD exam has not yet opened, even though MTS candidates have already started booking. This is considered the second indicator that the GD exam might be held after the conclusion of MTS.
Exam City Slip Not Released
Candidates usually receive their exam city slips about 10 days before the exam. So far, no slips have been issued for the GD exam, suggesting that the 23 February start date could shift to March.
Official Position
SSC has not released any official notification regarding a postponement. The final confirmation will come directly from the commission. Meanwhile, candidates are advised to continue preparing assuming the exam will be held as scheduled on 23 February.
