Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan arrived in the United Arab Emirates on September 10 for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening Indo-UAE cooperation in education, innovation, and research.
During his stay, Minister Pradhan formally inaugurated the first foreign Atal Incubation Centre at the IIT Delhi–Abu Dhabi Campus and launched Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad’s newly established Dubai campus.
The visit underscores India’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and deepening ties with its Gulf partner. “This initiative will open new avenues for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and skill development for students and youth in both nations,” Minister Pradhan said at the inauguration ceremony.
On Wednesday, September 10, Pradhan met with Sara Musallam, Chairperson of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), to discuss frameworks for mutual recognition of academic credits and joint certification programmes. The minister then proceeded to the IIT Delhi–Abu Dhabi Campus, where he inaugurated the Atal Incubation Centre—India’s flagship startup support network—and announced the launch of new PhD and BTech programmes tailored to emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and digital entrepreneurship.
On September 11, Minister Pradhan will engage with key UAE leaders, policymakers, and academicians, as well as representatives from leading Indian and UAE institutions. The discussions will focus on expanding student and faculty exchange programmes, co-developing research centres of excellence, and promoting bilateral innovation challenges in technology and sustainability.
The inauguration of IIM Ahmedabad’s Dubai campus marks a significant milestone in India’s internationalization of higher education. The facility will offer management and executive training programmes, leveraging IIM Ahmedabad’s global reputation to serve the Gulf region’s growing demand for advanced business education.
By advancing partnerships in education, innovation, and knowledge exchange, this visit lays the foundation for long-term collaboration designed to meet the aspirations of students and youth in both India and the UAE.
