Manjeet Kaur Was Nearly 7 Weeks Pregnant When She Died, Autopsy Reveals; Two Suspects Sought

Punjabi social media influencer Manjeet Kaur, 28, was nearly seven weeks pregnant when she died, according to her autopsy report, adding a new detail to a case in which police are searching for two people named as suspects in the FIR.Kaur died at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, on August 26, after undergoing treatment for severe burn injuries for nearly two months. Police have registered a case of kidnapping and murder following a complaint by her mother, Kanta Devi.

What happened to Manjeet Kaur?

According to the complaint filed by Kaur's mother, two acquaintances identified as Shubhi and Pinda allegedly called her to Sector 34 in Chandigarh on the intervening night of July 3 and 4.The complaint alleges that Kaur was assaulted, forced into a vehicle and taken towards a forested area near Morinda in Punjab. She was allegedly tied to a tree and set on fire. Another acquaintance reportedly reached the spot and helped extinguish the flames before she was taken to a hospital.Kaur was subsequently treated at hospitals in Morinda and Mohali before being admitted to PGIMER on July 9. She reportedly regained consciousness briefly on August 5 but later died from her injuries on August 26.

Two suspects named in FIR

Following Kaur's death, Chandigarh Police registered a case of kidnapping and murder against Shubhi and Pinda on the basis of her mother's complaint. The two have not yet been arrested, and police are working to trace them.Investigators are examining CCTV footage along the route between Sector 34 in Chandigarh and Morinda and questioning people known to Kaur to establish what happened between her alleged abduction and the attack. Police are also investigating the motive and the alleged role of the two suspects.

The case has also raised questions about whether Kaur's statement was recorded during her treatment.
