Ramayana Trailer to Release During Brahma Muhurat on July 30; Ranbir Kapoor to Lead Epic Saga as Lord Ram

The announcement comes days after the trailer's originally planned release was postponed. With the revised schedule now in place, the filmmakers have chosen a spiritually significant time traditionally associated with prayer, meditation and new beginnings. According to the announcement, the trailer will receive a simultaneous global digital launch.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Ranbir Kapoor, who portrays Lord Ram, while Sai Pallavi plays Mata Sita. Kannada superstar Yash appears as Ravan, one of the most anticipated casting choices of the project. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, along with Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor in pivotal roles.
Music for the ambitious production has been composed jointly by Academy Award winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, marking the first collaboration between the two celebrated composers. The visual effects are being handled by the Oscar-winning VFX studio DNEG, with producer Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios backing the project alongside Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
Director Nitesh Tiwari, best known for Dangal, has been developing the film for several years. Ramayana is being produced as a two-part cinematic saga, with the first installment scheduled for a Diwali 2026 theatrical release, while the second part is planned for Diwali 2027. Reports have described it as one of the most expensive Indian film projects ever mounted, with a production budget estimated at around ₹4,000 crore.
The trailer has generated enormous anticipation following several promotional events and industry previews. Unofficial clips that surfaced online in recent days further intensified public curiosity, prompting fans to await the official release for a complete look at the film's scale, visual design and performances.
With its combination of a star-studded cast, cutting-edge visual effects and one of India's most revered stories, Ramayana is positioned as one of the biggest cinematic releases of the year. The upcoming trailer launch during Brahma Muhurat is expected to mark the beginning of the film's global promotional campaign ahead of its theatrical release later this year.
