A lawyer in India was duped of several lakhs of rupees after scammers used an AI-generated deepfake video of Donald Trump to promote a fake hotel investment opportunity. The fraudsters posed as Trump and associates, convincing the victim of the investment’s legitimacy. Authorities are investigating the use of AI in this sophisticated scam.

 
 

Cybercriminals in Karnataka created a fake video of Donald Trump using artificial intelligence and lured a lawyer to invest in a hotel rental scheme. The lawyer found an opportunity to invest in Donald Trump Hotel Rentals on YouTube. Initially, he got a return on the investment but later it was closed. The lawyer had invested a total of Rs 593240.

A unique cyber fraud feat in Karnataka has surprised everyone. Actually, the cyber fraud created a fake video of US President Donald Trump using artificial intelligence (AI). Through this video, he duped a lawyer.

Using a video created with the help of AI, he lured him to invest in the Trump Hotel Rental scheme, promising high returns.

The matter came to light on May 6 when the victim reached the Haveri Central Crime Police Station with his complaint. In his statement, the advocate said that in January this year he came across a video on YouTube in which an opportunity to invest in 'Donald Trump Hotel Rentals' was given.
