30 Earthquakes Jolt Russia, Tsunami Warning Triggers Emergency

Russia experienced 30 earthquake tremors, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami warning and declare an emergency in affected regions. Evacuation and safety measures are underway.

 

2A powerful earthquake of 8.8 magnitude struck Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, triggering a tsunami warning in the Pacific region. Alarm bells rang in countries like the US, Japan, New Zealand and the Philippines. According to the US Geological Survey, this is the most powerful earthquake since 1952. Waves up to 3 meters high are expected in many coastal areas.

A massive earthquake of 8.8 magnitude struck the coast of Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday. This earthquake created a stir in the Pacific region.

This earthquake was so powerful that a tsunami warning was issued in many countries. Alarm bells are ringing on beaches in areas like the US, Japan, New Zealand, the Philippines, Ecuador and Hawaii. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), this is the most powerful earthquake in the region since 1952.

At least six earthquakes were recorded on the coast of Kamchatka throughout the day today, with magnitudes ranging from 5.4 to 6.9. However, all of them were less powerful than that 8.8 magnitude earthquake. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has warned that waves as high as 3 metres could hit some coastal areas of Russia and Ecuador.
