Bhopal youth drowns in Thailand during company tour

A tragic incident occurred in Thailand, where Ankit Sahu, a young professional from Bhopal, lost his life after drowning in the sea at Phuket during an official company tour. Ankit was employed with BL Life Sciences, a medical equipment firm.

According to reports, Ankit and another Bhopal-based colleague, Nikesh, were part of a group of employees who travelled to Thailand on October 23, 2025. While at the beach in Phuket, both were caught in strong sea currents. Although rescuers managed to save Nikesh, Ankit could not be revived despite immediate efforts.

Former minister Gopal Bhargava confirms incident

Former minister and Rehli MLA Gopal Bhargava shared the details on his official Facebook page, describing Ankit’s death as an “untimely and painful loss.”
He mentioned that Ankit, a relative of Chandrakant Sahu from Garhakota, was residing in Bhopal and working with BL Life Sciences. Bhargava expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

Swift coordination for repatriation

Following a distress call from Ankit’s family, Bhargava contacted the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and senior state officials to ensure prompt action.
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Neeraj Mandloi coordinated with the Royal Thai Embassy in Delhi and officials of the Indian Embassy in Thailand, including IPS officer Muthu, to complete the formalities for repatriation.

Body to reach Bhopal on November 1

Authorities confirmed that the post-mortem in Thailand will be completed by Saturday, after which Ankit’s mortal remains will be flown to India. His body is expected to arrive in Bhopal on November 1, 2025, where it will be handed over to his family.

Bhargava appreciated the quick response from both Indian and Thai authorities and thanked them for their assistance during the difficult time.
