India-Afghanistan trade initiative: Attari-Wagah border opened, Afghan trucks allowed to enter

Amid the ongoing tension with Pakistan, India has now started working on increasing its trade partnership with Pakistan's enemy number 2 Afghanistan. Under this, Attari-Wagah, which was closed since the Pahalgam attack, has been opened once again. Only trucks coming from Afghanistan will be allowed to enter from here. Let us tell you that, amid the ongoing tension with Pakistan, the closeness between India and Afghanistan has increased. India's diplomat also went to Afghanistan and met the Foreign Minister there a few days ago. At that time many meanings were being drawn from this meeting. Apart from this, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to the acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan over the phone.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Afghan counterpart Amir Khan Muttaki over the phone on Thursday. During this, India welcomed Afghanistan's strong rejection of efforts to create mistrust between the two countries. In this first publicly acknowledged phone conversation, Jaishankar highly appreciated Muttaki's condemnation of the Pahalgam terror attack.

Apart from this, Afghanistan rejected Pakistan's allegations that Indian missiles targeted Afghanistan. Jaishankar also thanked the Afghan government for this.

Jaishankar said, "I welcome their strong rejection of recent attempts to create mistrust between India and Afghanistan through false and baseless reports." He was referring to the reports in a section of Pakistani media which claimed that India had 'hired' the Taliban to carry out a "false flag operation" in Pahalgam. 'False flag operation' is one where the identity of the person carrying out any operation is completely hidden.

India's Foreign Minister Jaishankar said, "Our traditional friendship with the Afghan people and continued support for their development needs were underlined. Discussed ways and measures to further cooperation." The Foreign Minister described this conversation as fruitful.

India has not yet recognized the Taliban mechanism and is advocating the formation of an inclusive government in Kabul. India is also insisting that the soil of Afghanistan should not be used for terrorist activities against any country. A statement issued by Afghanistan regarding the Jaishankar-Muttaki talks said that the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as advancing trade and diplomatic partnerships.
