Jaishankar’s Masterstroke on Trump’s Tariff War, Invites Russian Firms to India

In response to Trump’s tariff war, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar urged Russian companies to shift business to India, projecting the nation as a strong alternative market.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has talked about further strengthening trade with Russia. He has invited Russian companies to invest in India so that the economic relations between the two countries can be strengthened further. Referring to initiatives like Make in India, Jaishankar said that India's rapidly growing economy is a golden opportunity for Russian companies.

The US has imposed a 50% tariff burden on India but India has not given up in front of the Trump administration.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has called for further strengthening trade with Russia. He has appealed to Russian companies to connect more deeply with India, so that the economic relations between the two countries can touch new heights.

Referring to India's rapidly growing economy and initiatives like 'Make in India', Jaishankar said that these are golden opportunities for Russian companies. He has described the demand arising from India's development and urbanization as an invitation for Russian businessmen.

'Opportunity for Russian companies'

Jaishankar said, "India, with a GDP of over $4 trillion, which is growing at a rate of 7%, needs resources from reliable sources. In some cases, essential goods such as fertilizers, chemicals and machinery can be supplied. India's rapidly growing infrastructure provides business opportunities for companies that have a good record in their country."

'The world respects India-Russia friendship...'

Jaishankar praised the strong relationship between India and Russia, but also highlighted the lack of trade.

He said, "The world now recognizes that India and Russia have nurtured the most stable relationship between large countries. But, this does not mean that economic cooperation is as strong. Our trade is limited and till recently the trade volume was also low."

The Foreign Minister said that trade has increased in recent years, but the trade deficit has also increased. Now we have to make more vigorous efforts to diversify and balance the trade. This is necessary not just to achieve higher business targets, but also to maintain current levels."
