PM Shahbaz Delivers Inflation Jolt: Railway Fares Hiked in Pakistan

Pakistan Railways has increased fares, adding to public woes. The hike comes amid rising operational costs, with PM Shahbaz’s government citing economic pressures as the reason.

 

Railways has given another shock to the people troubled by inflation in Pakistan. The fares of passenger express and mail trains have been increased again which is the second time in 15 days. Pakistan Railways is suffering huge losses every month due to the increase in diesel prices. A 2 percent increase in the fares of express and passenger trains has come into effect from July 4.

Pakistan, which is facing the brunt of inflation, has once again given a big shock to its people and Pakistan Railways has announced a hike in the fares of passenger, express and mail trains. This is the second increase within 15 days.

Pakistan Railways has taken this decision after the increase in the prices of petroleum products including diesel. According to ARY News, Pakistan Railways said in a notification that a 2 percent increase in fares for express and passenger trains will come into effect from July 4. According to the notification, the two percent fare hike will also apply to advance booking.
