Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, on his first visit to China since the Galwan clash, strongly criticized Pakistan during the SCO Summit. Referring to 'Operation Sindoor', he emphasized India's zero-tolerance stance on terrorism and cross-border threats, signaling a firm diplomatic and military posture in the region.
The conference of the Defense Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has started today. This time India's Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has also reached China to participate in the SCO Summit. This is the first visit of a senior Indian minister to China after the clash between the Indian Army and the Chinese Army in the Galwan Valley of eastern Ladakh in May 2020. In the summit, Rajnath Singh lashed out at its partner country Pakistan while sitting in China. He openly mentioned terrorism and Operation Sindoor and said that our action against terrorism will continue. During this, Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, sitting in front of Rajnath Singh, kept listening to the Indian Defense Minister quietly.
Before the meeting in Qingdao, a group photo was taken with all the Defense Ministers, in which Rajnath Singh and Khawaja Asif also participated. Apart from these, Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun and other leaders also took a group photo in the meeting of Defense Ministers. Before the start of the meeting of Defense Ministers, Chinese Defense Minister Admiral Dong Jun welcomed Rajnath.
After this, Rajnath Singh lashed out at Pakistan on terrorism in the meeting of Defense Ministers of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization). The Defense Minister has slammed Pakistan on the issue of terrorism. Reacting strongly to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in April, he said that some countries use cross-border terrorism as their policy and give shelter to terrorists. Action will continue against them now.
Rajnath Singh said that I believe that the biggest challenges in our region are related to lack of peace, security and trust and the root cause of these problems is increasing radicalism, extremism and terrorism. Peace and prosperity cannot coexist with terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) in the hands of non-state actors and terrorist groups. Decisive action is needed to address these challenges and we must unite in our fight against these evils for our collective security. He further said, “It is imperative that those who sponsor, nurture and use terrorism for their narrow and selfish purposes must face the consequences.
Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, “On 22 April 2025, the terrorist group ‘The Resistance Front’ carried out a brutal and heinous attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 26 innocent civilians, including a Nepali national, were killed. The victims were shot after profiling them on the basis of religious identity. The Resistance Front, a proxy of the UN-designated terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
