The murder of Charlie Kirk, considered a close associate of US President Donald Trump, has shaken the entire US. Meanwhile, American television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel's late-night talk show has been suspended.
It is reported that an offensive comment was made on the show regarding the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Taking action against this comment, ABC has taken Jimmy Kimmel's show off the air.
President Trump has described this action as "brilliant." The US President has praised ABC's action. Trump has described Jimmy Kimmel's show as "talentless" and "low-rated." In this regard, Trump wrote on his social media platform, "Great news for America: The Jimmy Kimmel Show, which challenged ratings, has been canceled. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what was necessary. Kimmel has no talent at all, and if that's possible, his ratings are worse than Colbert's."
Kimmel Challenged
It's noteworthy that during his show on September 16th, Kimmel commented on Kirk's murder. He suggested the possibility of the MAGA gang being behind the murder. He even claimed that the murder could have been carried out for political gain.
Following Jimmy Kimmel's remarks, US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brandon Carr called Kimmel's remarks highly offensive. He said that this constituted a form of news distortion that violates broadcast license regulations.
Channel Also Warned
ABC was also warned. It stated that if Kimmel was not prosecuted, it could seek to revoke the channel's license. Kimmel's show was subsequently taken off the air.
