US Court Rules Against Trump, Allows Foreign Students at Harvard
In a major setback for Trump, a US court has temporarily stayed the government's decision, allowing foreign students to attend Harvard University amid ongoing policy debates.
Recently, the US President had issued a decree banning the entry of foreign students coming to study at Harvard University. A federal judge has given his verdict on this matter.
The judge has temporarily stayed that announcement by Donald Trump. The announcement issued on Wednesday marks a new attempt by the Trump administration to deprive America's oldest and richest college of one-fourth of its student population, which is a large part of Harvard's research and scholarship.
After this announcement, Harvard University had approached the federal court to stop Trump's decision and filed a legal challenge before the federal judge to stop this order.
What did Harvard say?
In its legal challenge, Harvard called it illegal retaliation by the White House for rejecting its demands. In an amended lawsuit filed on Thursday, Harvard said that the President was trying to circumvent the previous court order.
