If you are planning to install Lord Ganesha at home this Ganesh Chaturthi, make sure to arrange all essential puja items like kalash, modak, durva, flowers, red cloth, and more in advance for a smooth and auspicious celebration.
On this day, the idol of Ganesh ji is installed in every house. If you are also preparing to welcome Bappa in your house, then prepare a list of worship materials in advance. To avoid last minute rush, it would be wise to bring these materials in advance.
Ganesh Chaturthi Puja Items: Materials required for Ganesh installation
Idol: Buy clay or eco-friendly Ganesh ji idol as per your choice and convenience.
Chowki and red cloth: A wooden chowki to install the idol and a new red or yellow cloth to cover it.
For Abhishek: Gangajal, Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar) and clean water.
For decoration: Flowers, garlands, durva grass, shami leaves, basil leaves (basil is not offered to Ganesha, but can be kept in the puja), coconut and betel nut.
For offering: modak, laddu, fruits and sweets.
For worship: incense, agarbatti, diya, oil/ghee, matchsticks, camphor, roli, kumkum, akshat (whole rice), sacred thread, kalava and a plate to bathe the idol of Ganesha.
Other materials: dakshina (money), prasad and a water filled kalash. You should buy all these materials in advance so that you do not face any problem on the day of worship and you can worship Bappa with full heart.
