In Ayurveda, curd is considered a nutritious but heavy and mucous (phlegm-inducing) food, which is advised to avoid eating at night. If you also do not know about it and eat curd at night, then it can be very harmful for health. Today we will tell you in detail what can be the side effects of eating curd at night.

Affects digestion
The digestive fire becomes weak at night. Curd is heavy and produces mucus, which can make it difficult to digest and can cause problems like indigestion, gas, swelling

Increases Kapha Dosha
According to Ayurveda, eating curd at night increases Kapha Dosha in the body. This can cause problems like cold, cough, phlegm etc., especially those people who already have allergies or breathing problems.

Increases the risk of cold and cough
Curd is cold in nature. Consuming it at night can increase the cold in the body, which can cause complaints like cold, blocked nose, sneezing.

Can increase weight
Heavy and slow-digesting food can slow down the metabolism, which increases the possibility of weight gain.

Affects the skin
Constantly eating curd at night can cause pimples, allergies or skin disorders in some people, especially if there is already more phlegm in the body.

What to do if it is necessary to eat curd?
If for some reason it is necessary to eat curd at night, then these precautions can be taken:

Eat curd mixed with black pepper or trikatu (dry ginger, chilli, long pepper) – this will reduce the phlegm dosha.
Consume buttermilk instead of curd – it is light and easy to digest.
Take lukewarm curd or eat it after heating it slightly – to balance the cold nature.

When to eat curd?
Eating curd in the morning or afternoon is considered the best.
Eating curd during the day in summer is cooling and beneficial for digestion.
