Do you know that very thick and creamy condensed milk can be prepared at home in just a few minutes? Yes, it will not only save your money, but you will also get the guarantee of purity. Come, without delay, know the special Condensed Milk Recipe...
To make condensed milk, you need:
Milk: 1 liter (full cream milk will be best, it will make the condensed milk thicker and creamier)
Sugar: 200 grams (about 1 cup)
Baking soda: a pinch (less than a quarter teaspoon)
Method of making condensed milk
Pour milk into a large and thick-bottomed pan or wok. Heat the milk on high flame till it comes to a boil. Make sure the milk does not stick to the bottom.
After this, as soon as the milk comes to a boil, reduce the flame and add sugar to it and mix well. Let the sugar dissolve completely.
Now cook the milk on low flame while stirring continuously. You have to cook the milk till it reduces to half its quantity and starts looking thick. It may take about 30-40 minutes.
When the milk becomes quite thick and starts looking creamy, add a pinch of baking soda to it. As soon as you add baking soda, the milk will start to froth slightly and it will start to thicken more, then mix it well.
After adding baking soda, cook for 2-3 minutes more and then turn off the gas. Remember, it will thicken more when it cools down.
Let the prepared condensed milk cool down completely. After cooling, fill it in an airtight container and keep it in the fridge. It stays fresh for 10-15 days.
Special Tips
It is very important to keep stirring the milk continuously to prevent it from sticking to the bottom and to get a uniform thickness.
Always use a vessel with a thick bottom so that the milk does not burn.
Baking soda helps to thicken the milk and gives it a smooth and creamy texture, but its quantity has to be kept very less, otherwise the taste can be spoiled.
Initially you may find it a little thin, but after cooling it will become perfectly thick.
