The month of Sawan is a symbol of Shiva devotion and satvik diet. Only limited things are eaten during the fasting days, but this does not mean that one has to compromise on taste and variety. We have brought for you an easy and delicious recipe of "Sabudana Cheela", which you can eat during the fast and can also feed the family. Let's know the recipe of Sabudana Cheela.
- Ingredients
- Sabudana (soaked) – 1 cup (soaked for 4-5 hours or overnight)
- Boiled potato – 1 medium size (mashed)
- Water Chestnut flour or Rajgira flour – 2 tbsp
- Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
- Chopped coriander – 1 tbsp
- Rock salt – according to taste
- Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Ginger (if allowed during fasting) – 1/2 tsp (grated)
- Ghee or peanut oil – for frying the chilla
Method
- First of all, grind the soaked sago coarsely in a mixer so that a batter-like base is formed. Keep in mind, do not add too much water.
- Now add mashed potato, water chestnut/rajgira flour, green chilli, ginger, coriander, rock salt and cumin seeds. Mix everything well. If the mixture is too thick, add some water.
- Heat a non-stick pan and apply a little ghee. Now spread the mixture on the pan like you make besan ka chilla. Spread it a little round and thin. Cook on low flame till it turns golden on both sides.
- Serve sabudana chilla hot with curd or vrat wali green chutney (made of peanuts, coriander, rock salt).
While turning the chilla, take care that it does not stick to the pan, so cook it well on low flame. It is very important to soak the sabudana properly so that they remain soft and mix well.
