‘Unnecessary paperwork must end’: PM Modi Calls for Citizen-Centric Reforms at NDA Parliamentary Party Meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday urged the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs to accelerate citizen-friendly reforms and eliminate redundant bureaucratic procedures, stressing that rules should simplify life rather than complicate it. He was addressing the NDA parliamentary party meeting held at the Parliament Library Building, where members welcomed him with a garland to celebrate the alliance’s victory in the Bihar assembly elections.

Modi said the government must put an end to “unnecessary paperwork and 30–40 page forms,” asserting that citizens should not be asked to repeatedly submit the same information. “We have to ensure that services reach people at their doorstep. No law should become a burden on the common man,” he added.

The Prime Minister underlined that reforms should span every sector, not just the economy, and reiterated that both Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business remain central to the government’s agenda. He highlighted the success of self-certification norms, noting that the policy is based on trust and has functioned effectively for a decade without misuse.

During the meeting, Modi also praised Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who recently assumed office for the tenth time, calling him the “architect of Bihar’s victory.” Senior leaders including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, and Ashwini Vaishnaw were present.

The Prime Minister described the current phase as India’s “Reform Express,” with rapid, clearly-defined policy changes aimed at reducing everyday obstacles and enabling citizens to achieve their potential.

The meeting also discussed political coordination within the NDA. Modi is scheduled to host a dinner for all alliance MPs on December 11, aimed at strengthening internal communication and strategizing for the ongoing Parliament session. The discussions are expected to cover the government’s legislative agenda and preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam.
